In 2021, Dan co-founded Kenya Now Organization with his wife Kara. Holding a bachelor's degree in nursing, Dan's professional journey has been marked by his commitment to patient care, honed through years of service in emergency and ICU settings. Beyond his professional realm, Dan's endeavors have led him to volunteer as a paramedic in remote Dominican Republic clinics, exposing him to the stark realities of healthcare and education disparities. Fueled by his Christian faith and a passion for global hunger, health, and education initiatives, Dan is an advocate for sustainable solutions, channeling his energy towards creating a more equitable East Africa.
Kara Holwick, Planning Director
Kara, co-founder of Kenya Now Organization, is a passionate advocate with a longstanding commitment to empowering disadvantaged children and women. With a master's degree in nonprofit management, Kara has been instrumental in shaping impactful initiatives. Her legacy includes laying the groundwork for a vital girls' program in the Dominican Republic in 2010, which continues to thrive, exemplifying her dedication to sustainable change. Kara's dedication to uplifting marginalized communities, as demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ, serves as a beacon of hope, driving her mission to create a brighter, more equitable future for underserved people of Kenya.
Nathanael Bancroft, Board Treasurer
Nate, educated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a minor in biblical studies, brings a unique blend of expertise to the team. With a proven track record of leadership, Nate has served as Secretary for the Board of Advisors at Awaken Great Bay and played an active role on the Pastoral Council at Grace Capital Church. Complementing his passion for community service, Nate's wife, Kylie, contributes her talents on our virtual enrichment team specializing in mental health, embodying their shared commitment to holistic well-being. Together, Nate and Kylie form a dynamic duo dedicated to making meaningful contributions to Kenya Now Organization's core mission.
Grace Smiley, Board Secretary
Grace, equipped with a degree in psychology: Christian counseling and a background in public health administration, brings a wealth of expertise to her roles. With a passion for Christian ministry, Grace is deeply engaged in providing lay-counseling support for marriages and families. Since the inception of the Kenya Now Organization, Grace and her husband, Pastor Jeremy, have been instrumental in the organization's first initiatives and supporting the nutrition program. Grace was selected as the board secretary in 2023, reflecting her dedication to the team. Her multifaceted contributions and expertise underscore her pivotal role in advancing this organization's mission.
Kristen Hearn, Board Director, Sponsorship Coordinator
Kristen, educated with a bachelor's degree in business administration, channels her passion for International Development towards providing educational opportunities for disadvantaged children in East Africa. Her tenure as a Tour Administrator for the African Children’s Choir, facilitating their travels across the United States, has given her invaluable insights into nonprofit operations and East African culture. With a keen understanding of the challenges faced by communities in the region, Kristen emerges as a valuable asset to the Kenya Now team. Her commitment to empowering the women and children of East Africa underscores her dedication to fostering a brighter future for all.
Kiley Hamblet, Board Director
Kiley has a robust background in program management and consulting. Graduating from George Washington University with a master's degree in project management, she holds the skills to effectively lead and implement impactful initiatives. Kiley played a pivotal role in launching this mission back in 2021 by contributing to policy writing, records keeping and accounting. With a passion for Christian centered community development and a commitment to excellence, Kiley brings valuable expertise to Kenya Now Organization, driving sustainable change and innovation in our programs and projects.
